About Anisha Shah, M.A., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Master’s in Clinical/Counseling Psychology
Master’s in Human Development
Children, Adolescents, Couples, and Adults

Anisha Shah is a Licensed Professional Counselor with diverse educational and clinical experience. She earned her master’s degree in clinical and counseling psychology from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. She also earned her master’s degree in human development and a bachelor’s degree in child development from S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai, India. She has successfully worked with people from various ethnicities and walks in life, including individuals with relationship and personal problems, couples, victims of sexual/physical abuse, low income families, individuals struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction, hearing impaired individuals, and elderly individuals. Her compassion, respect, and unconditional acceptance for her clients enable her to build and sustain lasting therapeutic relationships. She also provides services in Hindi and Gujrati (Indian Languages).

The decision to begin the process of therapy in itself is a courageous commitment and the first step on the journey towards self-discovery and healing. Ms. Shah creates a safe, comfortable, and positive atmosphere to facilitate the healing process. She provides an integrative approach utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques based on individual needs. She relates to the client world and assists them in identifying, prioritizing, and achieving their goals at their own pace. This facilitates clients to find their own meaning and clarity in life. Ms. Shah believes that an individual has the innate potential to reduce emotional distress and maladaptive behavior patterns by acquiring skills to correct erroneous thoughts, perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. She effectively incorporates Play Therapy techniques with emotionally disturbed children where ‘Play’ becomes the natural medium of communication and the most comfortable form of expression.

The counseling relationship is unique because the foundation of the relationship is to get a clear perspective about the client needs and to develop deeper contact with their feelings. Honesty, openness, commitment, and willingness for change on the part of the client are the success criteria for needs being met through therapy. Ms. Shah is willing to collaborate with her clients to journey more deeply into themselves and work towards the changes they want to make. Whether you are seeking counseling for yourself, child, teenager, or your relationship, your decision and motivation to enter into a counseling relationship can foster your healing and personal growth. Ms Shah looks forward to meet with you to begin this journey!
